Dublin Airport opens new lounge for Ireland and US passengers
TIN news: Dublin Airport in Ireland has opened a new lounge for passengers that have completed US Preclearance security checks in its Terminal Two.
The 51st&Green lounge can only be used by transatlantic passengers holding a business class ticket and airline club cards, and travelling with Delta Airlines, Aer Lingus, United and American Airlines.
Last year, a record one million passengers used the Irish airport’s US Preclearance facility.
Dublin Airport managing director Vincent Harrison said: “We are delighted to have this post US Preclearance lounge open for passengers, which is unique as Dublin is the only airport outside of North America to offer a lounge facility once the necessary Preclearance checks are completed.
“With four airlines currently flying 276 times to and from 11 destinations in the US on a weekly basis, an average of almost 40 return flights daily, Dublin Airport now ranks fifth among EU airports for route frequency to North America.”
The 750m2 51st&Green lounge, which accommodates 180 seats, is positioned close to the intersection threshold of runways 34 and 28.

Travellers can enter the new facility through a 32m-long entrance corridor.
The lounge allows customers to relax or work after completing security screening and US Preclearance checks, until they are called to board their respective flights.
Harrison added: “Almost five million passengers have used Dublin Airport’s US Preclearance facility since it opened in T2 in February 2011.
“New York continues to be Dublin Airport’s busiest transatlantic destination with passenger numbers up 6% on this route in the first six months of the year.”
During the first half of 2016, the airport saw overall passenger numbers increase by 13% to more than 13 million.
