Record High: Iran’s Overland Transit Approaches 11 Million Tons
The Director General for the Department of Transit and International Transport at the Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization announced that overland transit of goods through Iran’s land borders has reached 10,967,606 tons from the beginning of the current Iranian year through the end of November.
According to Javad Hedayati, this measure of transit cargo was transported through over 496,000 international freight journeys undertaken by active fleets operating in the international transport sector.
He further stated that during the same period, more than 8.824 million tons of export goods were transported in 370,309 outbound journeys, while over 1.686 million tons of imports were carried through 76,666 inbound journeys by commercial transport fleets.
Highlighting Iran’s existing capacity in international transportation and trade with neighboring states, the Director General stressed that the substantial measure of exports through Iran’s land borders clearly reflects the strength and potential of the nation’s international transport network in expanding regional economic cooperation.
