ÖBB to Discontinue Nightjet Routes Due to SNCF Exit
Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) has announced that its Nightjet services from Vienna and Berlin to Paris will end on 14 December 2025.

Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) has announced that its Nightjet services from Vienna and Berlin to Paris will end on 14 December 2025.
The decision follows confirmation from the French Ministry of Transport that service contracts with SNCF Voyageurs, the French state operator, will not be extended into 2026.
The night trains to Paris have been run as joint operations, requiring cooperation between ÖBB and SNCF Voyageurs. With SNCF no longer participating under contract, ÖBB is unable to continue the services. The Vienna–Paris connection will therefore cease operations after less than four years in service, while the Berlin–Paris route will also be withdrawn.
Despite the withdrawal from Paris, the Vienna–Brussels Nightjet will continue to run three times per week in 2026. ÖBB remains the largest provider of night trains in Europe, operating services such as Vienna–Amsterdam and Munich–Rome.
ÖBB is also expanding its long-distance overnight services with 24 new-generation Nightjet trains being introduced. These are intended to provide greater capacity and improved facilities on existing routes across the network.
