A high-level meeting on infrastructure for the implementation of the comprehensive plan and operational progress at the Bazargan Border was held with the participation of the Chairman of the Plan and Budget Organization, the Chairman of the Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization, the Chief Executive of the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways, the Deputy for Technical and Infrastructure Affairs of the Plan and Budget Organization, the Governor-General of West Azerbaijan Province, and a number of provincial officials.

The meeting centered on securing funding and accelerating infrastructure development at the terminal.

Participants assessed the latest status of terminal infrastructure, the implementation status of construction and development projects, existing capacities and the principal barriers to enhancing services at the Bazargan Border. They underscored the need for dedicated budgetary attention commensurate with the border crossing’s strategic importance.

The discussions also covered completion of the second phase of the Bazargan Customs comprehensive plan, decelopment of border yards and infrastructure, improvement of traffic routes, service upgrades, and removal of existing bottlenecks in the movement of goods and passengers. The necessity of inter-agency coordination to expedite project implementation was emphasized.

Securing credit for the Bazargan border, investing to increase foreign trade capacity, boosting transit, reducing crossing times, facilitating economic operators and boosting Iran’s position in regional and European transport corridors were among the other key issues raised at the meeting.
