Bushehr Smart Port Project to Serve as a National Model
The Vice President for Science, Technology, and Knowledge-Based Economy, Hossein Afshin, announced that the Smart Port Project in Bushehr is being developed as a pilot initiative aimed at creating a model for other ports across the country.
PMO News Portal, Bushehr, Iran — During a visit to Bushehr Port—accompanied by the provincial governor and a delegation of officials—Afshin reviewed the project’s progress at the Bushehr Ports and Maritime directorate. He noted that the ultimate goal of the initiative is to transform Bushehr Port into a benchmark of success that can be replicated nationwide.
Afshin emphasized the importance of inter-agency coordination for the project’s success, calling for unified management and stronger collaboration among organizations to ensure consistency and synergy in implementation.
Highlighting the phased nature of the smart port transformation, he reaffirmed the Vice Presidency’s full commitment to supporting the initiative through partnerships with knowledge-based companies.
Siavash Arjmandzadeh, Acting Director General of the Bushehr Ports and Maritime Organization, stated that the *Smart Port Project* will not only streamline port operations but also enhance the monitoring of vessel movements and resource management.
He added that collaboration between government bodies and knowledge-based companies is crucial to the project’s success, noting that the organization is fully engaged in deploying smart systems across multiple operational areas.
The Bushehr Smart Port Project is part of a broader national effort to modernize Iran’s maritime infrastructure and strengthen the role of technology in port management and logistics.
