Commencing on Comprehensive Development of Nordooz Border on Iran–Armenia Border

Work has officially commenced on the Comprehensive Development Plan for the Nordooz Border Terminal on the Iran–Armenia border, aimed at upgrading border infrastructure, increasing transit capacity, and facilitating the movement of international transport fleets.

The plan has entered the implementation phase with a focus on standardization and modernization of operational infrastructure, expanding capacity for processing and managing vehicle traffic, reducing truck dwell times, and streamlining border procedures.

Through the development and reorganization of terminal infrastructure, logistics services, and essential border facilities, the project is expected to enable smarter traffic management, reduce border queues, improve safety and service quality, and enhance efficiency in international transport processes.

The Nordooz Border is one of Iran’s most important gateways to the Republic of Armenia and the wider Caucasus region, holding a strategic position in the development of transit, trade exchanges and regional logistics chains.

Implementation of the comprehensive development plan will strengthen existing cargo-handling and international fleet movement capacities, helping to facilitate and accelerate trade between the two countries. It will also bolster Nordooz’s transport and logistics infrastructure, elevating the terminal’s role in regional transit corridors and supporting expanded economic and trade cooperation between Iran and Armenia.
