In line with the expansion of trade and logistics relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Armenia, and to make optimal use of the two countries’ transport, transit, and infrastructure capacities, a jointly meeting was held at the Nordouz border between Iran’s Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development and Chairman of the Road Maintenance and Transport Organization and a delegation from the Republic of Armenia, attended by Armenia’s Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure.
The meeting focused on developing transport and transit cooperation, strengthening the two countries’ role in regional transit corridors, and identifying and removing existing obstacles. Participants discussed increasing cross-border exchange capacity, upgrading service levels at official border crossings, facilitating the movement of commercial fleets, and strengthening logistics infrastructure and border hinterlands.
The two sides will continue to follow up on removing existing barriers, reducing border and customs clearance times, enhancing the efficiency of border terminals, and increasing regional transit capacity.
It is worth noting that the Norduz border serves as one of the key gateways connecting Iran and Armenia and holds considerable potential for expanding trade and regional transit.
