Chairman of Iran's Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization Urges Accelerated Border Operations and Implementation of Nordouz Border Crossing Master Plan
His Excellency Reza Akbari, Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development and Chairman of the Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization (RMTO), entered the Islamic Republic of Iran through the Nordouz Border Crossing following a joint high-level session between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Armenia, while accompanied by senior representatives from the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, the Customs Administration and the Planning and Budget Organization.
His Excellency Reza Akbari, Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development and Chairman of the Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization (RMTO), entered the Islamic Republic of Iran through the Nordouz Border Crossing following a joint high-level session between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Armenia, while accompanied by senior representatives from the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, the Customs Administration and the Planning and Budget Organization.
Upon his arrival and during an on-site inspection of the Nordouz Border Crossing, H.E. Mr. Akbari articulated the outcomes and strategic achievements of the negotiations with the Armenian counterpart, underscoring the paramount importance of elevating bilateral cross-border cooperation, stressing the imperative of further streamlining border activities, revising and optimizing fleet scheduling protocols, facilitating transit movement, and eliminating operational bottlenecks. The Chairman directed relevant managers to engage in sustained and continuous coordination with local and provincial authorities to resolve extant challenges and barriers.
With respect to the implementation of the comprehensive master plan for the Nordouz Border Crossing, the Deputy Minister stressed the necessity of accelerating project execution and maximizing the utilization of available capacities for border infrastructure development, issuing directives to expedite this strategic national initiative.
Dr. Akbari further highlighted the development and modernization of border infrastructure as a critical prerequisite for enhancing the Islamic Republic of Iran’s international trade, transit, and transportation sectors. He reiterated the imperative of sustained follow-up to achieve the defined objectives.
The Director General of Road Maintenance and Transportation of East Azerbaijan Province, along with senior managers of the border crossing and customs authorities, were also in attendance.
