Virtual Meeting Held to Finalize Iran–Uzbekistan Road Transport Action Plan

A virtual meeting was convened to exchange views on the three-stage road transport action plan of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Uzbekistan and to coordinate executive arrangements for its finalization during the planning visit of Iran’s Minister of Roads and Urban Development to Tashkent. Held following a prior proposal by the Uzbek side, the meeting was co-chaired by Iran’s Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development, who also serves as Chairman of the Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization, and the First Deputy Minister of Transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

During the virtual session, aimed at aligning positions and boosting bilateral and transit cooperation in international transport between the two nations, the two sides reviewed the Tashkent 2024 Action Plan and shared their respective views on the negotiated Tashkent 2025 document. Priority was given to matters concerning traffic permits and fuel supply issues affecting to road transport fleets of both countries.

The meeting was also attended by the Honorable Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Economic Counselor of the Iranian Embassy in the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Director General and senior experts of the Transit and International Transport Department of the Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization.
