Road Improvement Continues on Rimdan Border Access Route; Iran-Pakistan Transit Corridor Strengthened
Mr. Mehran Ghorbani, Mr. Reza Akbari, Road Management and Transport Organization (RMTO), visited the ongoing improvement project on the road leading to the Rimdan border.
H.E. Mehran Ghorbani, Deputy Minister for Transport of the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development and H.E. Reza Akbari, Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development and Chairman of the Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization (RMTO), visited the ongoing improvement project on the road leading to the Rimdan border.
During the visit, the latest status of executive operations, project progress and measures taken to enhance quality, safety and traffic capacity on this border route were reviewed.
Akbari highlighted the strategic importance of the Rimdan border in developing trade and transit exchanges with Pakistan, stating: “This route is one of the key connecting corridors in the southeast of the country and its improvement and quality enhancement play an effective role in facilitating the movement of transport fleets, cargo handling and boosting regional transit infrastructure.”
He added: “The development and improvement of road infrastructure leading to border terminals is a prerequisite for the prosperity of trade and transit and increased productivity in the country’s transport network. Through improvement projects, efforts are being made to provide safer and more favorable status for road users and transport fleets.”
The improvement project on the road leading to the Rimdan border is 52 kilometers long and is being implemented with a budget exceeding forty trillion IRRs.
Also present during the visit were the Deputy for Technical and Rural Roads, the Director General for the Department of Technical and Construction Engineering, the Director General of the Transit and International Transport Department and the Director General of Road Maintenance and Transportation for the South Sistan and Baluchestan Province.
