As of 29 October 2026, truck driver protests are disrupting freight traffic at the Kapikule and Hamzabeyli border crossings between Türkiye and Bulgaria.
According to IRU member UND, truck drivers have blocked freight movements at both crossings. They are protesting against Schengen visa restrictions, particularly the 90-day stay limit within a 180-day period.
The protests began on 28 October 2026 and are continuing. They are causing significant disruption to truck movements and long queues at both crossings.
Operators using or planning to use Kapikule and Hamzabeyli are advised to take the disruption into account when planning their operations and to monitor developments before dispatching vehicles.
