Centralny Port Komunikacyjny (CPK) has invited a mix of 20 companies and consortia to submit new contract engineering bids for the design and construction of the first stage of the railway node in the airport area of the Port Polska investment project.

All bids must be submitted by 9 March, with the first package of the railway node forming part of the ‘Y’ High-Speed Railway line (i.e. line 85 connecting, which connects Warsaw with the new aiport before reaching Łódź).

The project also includes a connecting link with line 3 (which connects Warsaw and Poznań) and a northern railway exit towards the planned CMK Północ (CMK North) line.

The current procurement is being conducted under a framework agreement for contract engineer services for accompanying railway projects, which, signed in July 22 with 20 entities selected through a tender, allows Centralny Port Komunikacyjny to issue individual project tenders. This is now the fifth such procurement under the framework agreement, and the contractor will be selected on the basis of price.

Once successful; the chosen company will be responsible for both supervising and managing the contract under a ‘design and build’ format, with the scope of the agreement also including other tasks, oversight of the development of the construction design for the first package of the railway node, verification, acceptance, and settlement of works, as well as obtaining necessary administrative approvals and permits.

The CPK Railway Node has thus been divided into three packages, and will be constructed in three separate stages. Once complete, it will provide connections across central Poland along both east–west and north–south axes.

Currently, the schedule is expected to see the first section of the high-speed line between Warsaw and Łódź made operational before the end of 2032, coinciding with the opening of the airport. Sections to Poznań and Wrocław are planned to be completed by the end of 2035.

Delivered by CPK; the Port Polska investment programme focuses on the building of a stronger transport, logistics, and mobility backbone in Central Europe. The programme aims to integrate air, rail and road networks, transforming the region’s infrastructure and supporting development.
