The Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development and Managing Director of the Ports and Maritime Organization, in a message, congratulated World Maritime Day - September 30 (Mehr 8) — to all seafarers and maritime activists who, with their commendable determination and effort, have placed their lives in the hands of sincerity and, with admirable sacrifice, guard the country's maritime borders and economic arteries so that the great wheel of the maritime transport industry continues its movement and vitality.
In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The sea is the vital artery of the economy and the strong fortress of national security; an importance that, in recent months amid the storm of "war and maritime blockade," transformed from a strategic and macro role into a great historical test, revealing its vital position more than ever before.
In this critical juncture, the seafarers and activists of the country's port and maritime sector, with responsible presence and round-the-clock effort, did not allow existing difficulties to create any disruption in the flow of maritime trade and the provision of the country's essential needs. Despite all limitations and challenges, the activities of the country's commercial ports remained stable, maritime trade continued, and the supply chain of essential and necessary goods for the people never experienced interruption.
This great achievement is the result of the solidarity and effort of a vast collective of seafarers, dutiful port staff, shipping companies, private sector activists, and all the strivers of the maritime arena who, under the harshest conditions, kept the flow of life alive in the veins of the country's economy.
This year, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) has chosen the slogan "From Policy to Action; Powering Maritime Excellence" for World Maritime Day. This slogan focuses on transforming global regulations into daily operations, accelerating development through technical cooperation, and creating a safe, efficient, and environmentally compatible industry. In this regard, the Ports and Maritime Organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran, relying on the country's strategic position in international waterways, has always emphasized the transformation of global commitments into practical actions, and the development of port infrastructure, the smartening of the fleet, the enhancement of maritime safety, and the protection of the marine environment are among Iran's practical steps on the path to realizing this slogan and maritime excellence at the regional and global level.
While honoring World Maritime Day, I bow my head in respect before the steadfastness and commitment of seafarers and the great maritime and port community of the country as pioneers of global trade, and I beseech God Almighty for their health, honor, and success on the path of service to the nation and our beloved homeland.
