Convening the Virtual Meeting on Iran–Pakistan International Road Transport Cooperation

The Virtual Meeting on Iran–Pakistan International Road Transport Cooperation was chaired by the Director General of the Department for Transit and International Transport of the Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization and the Director of Transport at Pakistan’s Ministry of Communications, with the aim of addressing existing challenges in international road transport between the two sides, including infrastructural and procedural issues.

In this virtual meeting, held with the objective of aligning the routes used by commercial and passenger road fleets at the Mirjaveh–Taftan border and removing traffic bottlenecks in the Taftan customs area, the two sides stressed the implementation of agreements reached in previous meetings and agreed to establish a technical committee, conduct a field visit, and align the two sides’ border plans.

Furthermore, during the meeting, the Iranian side called on the Pakistani side to increase the admission of commercial vehicles and to remove barriers to the through transport of Iranian commercial fleet into Pakistani territory.
