Iran Participates in 34th IMO Assembly in London
The 34th Assembly of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) will be held for two weeks starting Monday, November 24, 2025, at the IMO headquarters in London.
PMO News Portal - The 34th Assembly of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), the organization’s highest decision-making body, convened in London on Monday, November 24, 2025, for a two-week session with the participation of maritime officials from member states.
A high-level delegation from the Islamic Republic of Iran, led by Saeid Rasouli, Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development and Managing Director of the Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO), is attending the Assembly alongside Seyed Ali Mousavi, Iran’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom and Permanent Representative to the IMO.
Rasouli is scheduled to deliver a formal address at the opening ceremony, outlining Iran’s positions on key national and international maritime issues.
On the sidelines of the event, the PMO chief is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with maritime authorities from several countries.
Rasouli is accompanied on this mission by Ali Akbar Marzban, Deputy for Maritime Affairs, and Ali Fathi, Deputy for Engineering and Infrastructure Development of the PMO.
Key items on the Assembly’s agenda include the election of IMO Council members for the next two-year term, approval of the organization’s six-year strategic guidelines and two-year action plan, review of reports and proposals from IMO bodies, adoption of the IMO budget, and deliberations on major global maritime issues such as the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions
