Port of Rotterdam announced that it has become member of the WBCSD, being the first port to join this global network which aims to accelerate the transition to a sustainable world. WBCSD is uniquely positioned to work with member companies along and across value chains to deliver high-impact business solutions to the most challenging sustainability issues.

The Port of Rotterdam is Europe’s largest port and one of the world’s busiest; last year, the port processed over 460 million tonnes of products from almost 130,000 ships. Besides being a logistics hub, Rotterdam also houses Europe’s largest petrochemical cluster.

”Port of Rotterdam has the ambition to be frontrunner in the energy transition by lowering the carbon footprint of the industry while developing renewable energy, biobased production and circular initiatives. The port now aims to further develop its sustainability agenda by partnering with WBCSD and its 200-member companies.” the port said in a press statement.
