Approximately 7.5 Million Tons of Goods Moved through Iran’s Land Borders within Current Iranian Year

Mr Hossein Hosseini announced: From the beginning of this year to the first five months of this year, seven million 492 thousand tons of export and import cargo have crossed Iran's land borders.

The Director General of the Transit and International Transport Department of Iran’s Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization announced that from the beginning of the current Iranian to five months, 7.492 million tons of export and import cargo were crossed through Iran’s land borders.

According to Mr. Hossein Hosseini, during this period, 6,129,617 tons of goods were exported to target markets via 243,500 trips by commercial road fleets.

He added that 60,812 cargo fleet trips brought 1,362,515 tons of goods into Iran, which were then moved through the road network.

The official further reported the transit of 5,662,159 tons of goods through 249,473 transit fleet journeys over the same period.

Mr. Hosseini also noted that with 3,552 companies active in international transport, large-scale export, import and transit operations are underway at Iran’s entry and departure points, describing that 51,000 public transport vehicles with an average operating age of 12 years are engaged on international routes, while 63,000 professional and skilled drivers are carrying out cargo transportation.

The Director General also stressed that cargo transport between Iran and neighboring countries, as well as transit and export destinations, is being conducted through 28 border crossings across 12 provinces.
