Shalamcheh Border Handles Over 2.5 Million Tons of Cargo
The Deputy Director of Transport at the Khuzestan Provincial Road Maintenance and Transportation Department announced that the transger of 2,522,656 tons of goods through the Shalamcheh border during the first eight months of the current year reflects a 5% increase compared with the same period last year.
Foad Ghaziali stated that this measure of cargo was moved via 79,679 trucks crossing the Shalamcheh border.
He added that the transport of 1,521,014 tons of goods by 69,138 trucks through the Chazzabeh border during the same period indicates a 20% year on year rise.
Ghaziali stressed that the Shalamcheh and Chazabeh borders, as two principal gateways for trade between Iran and Iraq, play a significant role in the movement of export and transit commodities. A substantial share of food products, construction materials and industrial goods is transported through these corridors.
