Over 287,000 Arbaeen Pilgrims Cross National Borders in Five Days
In the first five days of this year’s Arbaeen pilgrimage relocation plan (August 24–28), over 287,000 pilgrims traversed the nation’s six designated Arbaeen land borders, including Mehran, Shalamcheh, Chazabeh, Khosravi, Bashmaq and Tamarchin.

According to the IRAN Roads Management Center, over 202,400 Iranian and overseas pilgrims exited the country, while nearly 85,000 pilgrims entered on their return journeys during this period.
Key Border Points for Pilgrims
The Mehran, Shalamcheh and Chazabeh borders were the top choices for exiting pilgrims, while returning pilgrims primarily used the Shalamcheh, Mehran and Tamarchin borders.
Public Transport Utilization
• Approximately 65,000 pilgrims used 3,350 trips of the public road transport fleet to reach the Arbaeen borders.
• On return routes, 22,400 pilgrims were accommodated via 2,400 trips of the transport fleet.
• Mehran, Shalamcheh and Tamarchin borders were the most utilized for departures, while Mehran, Bashmaq and Tamarchin recorded higher demand for returns.
These figures underline the comprehensive logistics and coordination efforts undertaken to facilitate a smooth and secure pilgrimage for the Arbaeen travelers.
