Utah Transit Authority Orders 20 Additional Stadler Light Rail Vehicles

The Utah Transit Authority (UTA) has chosen to order an additional 20 Citylink light rail vehicles from Stadler, exercising an option from a 129 million USD base order first placed in Autumn 2024.

Stadler will build the new vehicles at its facility in Salt Lake City, Utah, with the delivered trains set to bring the total amount in local operation to 40 once production is completed.

The vehicles produced thus far have been specifically designed to operate on UTA’s TRAX service, which connects Salt Lake City and its surrounding communities.

The fleet expansion was approved by the UTA Board of Directors as part of the TRAX Forward project, which aims to expand and improve local public transport services in the region over the next ten years.

With the order of the additional 20 units; the option now remains for UTA to order an additional 40 units. If exercised, the contract would consist of a total of 80 units.
