ICOPMAS 2027 Committees focus on Updating Topics with Global Experiences and New Maritime Challenges
At the review meeting of the themes of the 15th International Conference on Coasts, Ports, and Marine Structures (ICOPMAS 2027), emphasis was placed on the necessity of updating the conference's scientific topics and sub-groups.
this meeting was held with the presence of university professors and representatives of the country's scientific and specialized centers in the meeting hall of the central building of the Ports and Maritime Organization, during which the proposed scientific themes and topics of the 15th edition of the conference were reviewed and revised.
At this meeting, emphasizing the necessity of aligning the scientific content of ICOPMAS 2027 with the latest global developments, it was decided that the names and Persian translations of some scientific sub-groups be revised and corrected, and that the special theme of the conference be selected with further review and with attention to the current priorities of the field of coasts, ports, and marine structures.
Furthermore, greater attention to global experiences and the review of the content of similar international conferences was emphasized as one of the foundations for revising the scientific themes of the conference.
Subsequently, emerging topics including the resilience of ports and coasts against crises and the effects of imposed war, artificial intelligence, the capacity of knowledge-based companies, the El Niño phenomenon, and other new developments and challenges were raised, and it was decided that the sub-branches and special themes of the conference be revised taking these discussions into account.
The introduction of a representative from the country's universities and scientific and specialized centers for continuous and more effective cooperation with the conference secretariat was another resolution of this meeting — a measure that can pave the way for a more cohesive connection between the country's scientific community and ICOPMAS and the utilization of the capacity of universities in the design and organization of this international event.
In another part of this meeting, the capacities of the Permanent International Association of Navigation Congresses (PIANC) and the support and assistance of this international body for students and enthusiasts in the field of coasts, ports, and marine structures were introduced.
The Ports and Maritime Organization, as the sole representative of PIANC in West Asia, announced its readiness to introduce eligible students and enthusiasts for membership in this international association.
The review and revision of the scientific themes of ICOPMAS 2027, with the aim of enhancing the content quality of the conference and bringing its topics closer to the current needs of the industry, scientific developments, and new maritime technologies, was among the main axes of this meeting.
