Asia Airfreight Terminal signs further 15-year Hong Kong Airport deal
SATS-owned Asia Airfreight Terminal (AAT) has renewed its franchise agreement with Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) to operate at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) for a further 15 years.
SATS-owned Asia Airfreight Terminal (AAT) has renewed its franchise agreement with Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) to operate at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) for a further 15 years.
The franchise renewal, covering 2028 -2043, comes as HKIA has been involved in some major developments supporting the long-term growth of Hong Kong’s airfreight industry.
These developments include the full commissioning of the three-runway system at HKIA and enhanced multimodal connectivity across the Greater Bay Area.
In June, cargo handler Hactl also signed a 15-year extension of its handling franchise at HKIA.
Mike Chew, chief executive at AAT, said: “We are honoured to continue our long-standing partnership with Airport Authority Hong Kong.
“Building on nearly three decades of experience at HKIA, we will continue to invest in enhancing the infrastructure, technology, operational capabilities, including increasing our cargo handling capacity to 2 million tonnes, for long-term development of Hong Kong’s air cargo industry.”
Operating on a franchise awarded by the Airport Authority Hong Kong since 1998, AAT offers airlines services from physical cargo handling to documentation processing.
AAT’s facilities include the COOLPORT facility that is certified with IATA CEIV Pharma, IATA CEIV Fresh, and WHO GDP Pharma accreditations.
