14 Major Infrastructure and Equipment Projects Launched at Chabahar Port

A total of 14 major infrastructure and equipment projects worth 9.8 trillion tomans were inaugurated or launched at Chabahar Port, in a ceremony attended by the Minister of Roads and Urban Development.

PMO News Portla -  the projects were implemented during the visit of Farzaneh Sadegh, Minister of Roads and Urban Development, to south of Sistan and Baluchestan Province, marking a significant step toward strengthening Chabahar’s role as Iran’s strategic oceanic port.

Among the key projects inaugurated was the West Coast Maritime Search and Rescue Station, developed at a cost of 2,385 billion rials, aimed at enhancing maritime safety and emergency response capabilities in the region. In addition, physical security barriers were installed at Shahid Beheshti and Shahid Kalantari ports with an investment of 772 billion rials to improve port security.

The ceremony also marked the commissioning of two rubber-tyred gantry cranes (RTGs), valued at 6,480 billion rials, designed to enable safer container stacking, increase operational efficiency, and optimize the use of container yards. Another project brought into operation was the heavy oil products transfer corridor, with an investment of 1,500 billion rials, aimed at supporting export development.

Several security and support infrastructure projects were also completed, including the major overhaul and reinforcement of the perimeter walls at Shahid Beheshti and Shahid Kalantari ports, implemented at a cost of 216 billion rials, as well as the inauguration of a new video monitoring center valued at 262 billion rials.

During the event, ship bunkering operations were officially launched by the private sector with an investment of 6,750 billion rials, expanding marine support services at the port. A 9,000-square-meter warehouse, constructed at a cost of 3,500 billion rials, also entered operation to enhance storage capacity.

Furthermore, by order of the Minister of Roads and Urban Development, the second phase of the road network and infrastructure facilities at Shahid Beheshti Port was launched with an investment of 17,100 billion rials. A logistics and container services terminal, developed by the private sector with an investment of 8,000 billion rials, also entered the implementation phase to reduce logistics costs and facilitate cargo handling.

Shahid Beheshti Port, valued at 17,350 billion rials, aimed at improving traffic flow and safety, as well as the overhaul of 20-kilovolt overhead power lines and the renovation of the port’s residential wastewater treatment plant, with combined investments exceeding 1,560 billion rials.

The launch of these projects underscores the government’s commitment to developing Chabahar Port as a key logistics, trade, and maritime hub in the region, while enhancing safety, operational capacity, and infrastructure resilience.
