PMO News Portal - Speaking at a ceremony marking the inauguration and launch of 14 infrastructure and equipment projects at Chabahar Port, valued at 9.8 trillion tomans, Farzaneh Sadegh outlined the progress of transportation and development initiatives underway in the southern part of Sistan and Baluchestan Province.

Sadegh emphasized that the simultaneous development of transport infrastructure and housing reflects the government’s commitment to addressing long-standing demands in the region. Ongoing projects in roads, railways, railway stations, airports, housing, administrative buildings, and healthcare facilities, she said, demonstrate sustained efforts to improve living standards and connectivity for local communities.

Highlighting Chabahar’s strategic importance, the Minister described the completion of the North–South rail corridor connecting Chabahar to Zahedan and onward to national and international rail networks as a key national priority. She noted that the project is also being pursued through diplomatic engagement with neighboring countries and will ultimately position Chabahar as the southern gateway of the corridor.

Referring to the implementation of more than 14 projects in the areas of infrastructure, port equipment, maritime safety, and bunkering, Sadegh confirmed that the handling of essential goods at Chabahar Port has recorded growth of over 110 percent, adding that the upward trend is expected to continue under current development plans.

The ceremony for the inauguration and launch of the 14 infrastructure and equipment projects at Chabahar Port was held on Thursday, 22 January 2026, in the presence of senior national and local officials.
