Abu Dhabi Airports, SITA Work On AI-Powered Management System

Abu Dhabi Airports and air transport technology provider SITA have agreed to explore the development of an artificial intelligence (AI) driven airport management system.
The Intelligent Total Airport Management (ITAM) platform would bring together real-time data, insights and operational decisions across an airport’s ecosystem.
The airport operator and SITA say that through advanced analytics, AI and autonomous workflows, ITAM will allow airports to anticipate disruptions, optimize resources, and enhance safety, efficiency and punctuality.
Andrew Murphy, chief information officer at Abu Dhabi Airports, says the collaboration supports the emirate’s ambition to lead global digital aviation innovation.
“By enabling Zayed International Airport to become one of the world’s first truly connected digital airports, and by powering this with ITAM at the core, we are creating a unified operational source of truth that accelerates growth and sets a new global benchmark for smart, seamless journeys,” he says.
Selim Bouri, SITA’s president for the Middle East and Africa, cites the growing complexity of airport environments and the need for smarter, data-driven systems. “Every operational choice affects airlines, passengers, and partners across the airport,” Bouri says.
Abu Dhabi Airports has reported strong traffic growth this year, handling more than 15.8 million passengers between Jan. 1 and June 30, marking a 13.1% increase over the same period last year.
Zayed International Airport accounted for roughly 15.5 million of those travelers, up 13.2% year-on-year.
