Bird Aviation Adds Second MRO Hangar In Cyprus

Cyprus-based maintenance provider Bird Aviation has opened its second MRO hangar in Larnaca with plans for a third facility next year as a response to growing in-region aftermarket demand.
The new facility at Larnaca International Airport was completed in late summer 2025 and officially opened on Nov. 11 following an investment of around €2.5 million ($2.9 million).
The opening of a second facility adds an additional bay to Bird Aviation’s existing three-bay setup, with current capabilities comprised of Airbus A320ceo and neo family base and line maintenance.
Opening an additional hangar is the latest move by the company to grow its MRO capabilities in Cyprus with further expansion anticipated soon. Next year, the company will add further capacity through the building of a third hangar at the site, adding three more bays.
Bird Aviation Group CEO Uri Sirkis says that the expansion reflects the MRO specialist’s commitment to developing a leading maintenance hub in the Eastern Mediterranean and its confidence in Cyprus’s potential as a growing center for aviation maintenance.
Meanwhile Fred Pralus, Bird Aviation’s CEO, says that the inauguration of the second hangar is an important stage in the company’s growth strategy, allowing it to further strengthen its technical capabilities and services.
Earlier this year, Pralus told Aviation Week that Bird Aviation completed more than 70 C checks on aircraft in 2024. “We aim to complete around 85 in 2025, and this number is expected to exceed 100 by 2026,” he said.
Pralus added that expanding capacity and new capabilities are under serious consideration for both narrowbody and widebody aircraft types.
