Sweden-based Taby Air Maintenance (TAM), a provider of maintenance and modifications for regional aircraft, is under new ownership after being sold to a private investment firm led by entrepreneur Lars Wingefors.

Lars Wingefors AB (LW AB) has acquired the Orebro-based company from Erik Thun AB in a deal that will see the new owners also take ownership of three Saab 2000 aircraft. LW AB is the largest shareholder in the publicly listed Embracer Group and Asmodee Group.

TAM has operated since 1989. Its repair capabilities cover Saab 340, Saab 2000 and ATR 72 family aircraft and three years ago it started performing cargo conversions of the Saab 2000.

In a statement announcing the transaction, LW AB says it holds ambitions to further develop the business within both the civil and defense-related aviation sectors. Neither party disclosed the sale price.

The three Saab 2000s will be added to LW AB’s existing fleet and be offered to operators on the leasing market. LW AB owns Sola Air, a regional airline based in Karlstad, Sweden, which is also active in the leasing segment.

In addition to its facility in Orebro, LW AB will also take on a workforce of more than 50 technicians and engineers.

“The company has established itself as a leading player in aircraft maintenance with global reach and high technical competence,” Erik Thun AB VP Henrik Källsson says. “It therefore feels very positive to hand over to an owner who shares our view of long-termism and quality.”
