The US state of Kentucky has bought 500 advanced transportation controllers (ATCs) from Q-Free as part of a statewide multi-phase intersection modernisation initiative.
The work, in partnership with Traffic Control Products, is for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC).
For seven years, Kentucky has been carrying out a traffic signal modernisation plan, deploying thousands of Q-Free ATCs with the goal of upgrading intersections across the entire state.
The 500 ATCs, with Maxtime software, are in addition to the more than 2,500 units previously purchased, and the agreement also includes long-term maintenance and support.
“This partnership with KYTC is the result of years of collaboration and a shared vision for safer, more efficient traffic management,” said Ryan Brown, CEO of Traffic Control Products.
It's a "major step forward for traffic signal modernisation" in the state, added Q-Free CEO Mark Talbot.
“Working with two forward-thinking partners in Traffic Control Products and KYTC, we’re excited to bring new levels of efficiency to the residents of Kentucky.”
Traffic Control Products is a distributor based in Willoughby, Ohio. The company’s product line includes advanced traffic management system (ATMS) software and sensor equipment, backed by assembly, programming and troubleshooting services.
