Yunex Traffic says Dubai is set to become the first city in the Middle East to implement its Yutraffic Fusion multimodal network control system "at various traffic hotspots".

Work will be carried out by Yunex and distribution partner Scientechnic, in collaboration with Dubai's Roads & Transport Authority (RTA).

Yutraffic captures and models traffic in real-time using historical and current data so that traffic management can adapt to scenarios such as collisions or road closures, with traffic signals flexibly adjusted, improving traffic flow and reducing emissions.

With multimodal sensors, it brings together modes such as pedestrians, bicycles, scooters and public transport into a single platform, and has been designed to integrate with connected vehicle technology.

Yunex says pilots in other cities, such as London, show travel time reductions of up to 20%, and Mohammed Al Ali, director of ITS Department at RTA, calls it "a significant step in our efforts to harness AI-driven solutions and data analytics to enhance public infrastructure and transportation".

Three million vehicles use Dubai's road network daily, he adds, with more than 700 million riders each year on public transport.

“The promising test results indicate that this system has the potential to greatly enhance traffic efficiency and significantly reduce emissions," he says.

Yunex CEO Jon Newhard, CEO of Yunex Traffic, says the initiative "not only demonstrates the transformative power of intelligent traffic solutions but also underscores our commitment to supporting cities worldwide in their journey towards smarter, greener urban environments".
