Monitoring the Status of Infrastructure and Development Capacities of Mahiroud Border in South Khorasan Province

Ahmad Jamshidi, Director General for the Department of Technical and Construction Engineering at the Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization, inspected Mahiroud Border Terminal during a visit to South Khorasan Province.

The inspection focused on reviewing the terminal’s infrastructure, utilities, and facilities, as well as evaluating its technical and civil engineering requirements. The latest status of existing capacities for expanding border operations and enhancing services for the international transport fleet was also assessed.

As one of South Khorasan Province’s key border crossings with Afghanistan, Mahiroud plays a significant role in the movement of goods, transit, and the development of regional trade. Upgrading its infrastructure can serve as a foundation for strengthening the province’s international transport capacities.

During the visit, the Director General also inspected the Shahid Rastgou and Padaran Pass road maintenance stations, as well as the road maintenance and transportation offices of Sarbisheh and Nehbandan counties, reviewing the condition of premises, facilities, and infrastructure needs of these facilities.

Also present were the Acting Director General of the South Khorasan Province General Directorate of Road Maintenance and Transportation, along with deputies and heads of provincial and county offices.
