90% Growth in Cargo Transit via Mahiroud Border Crossing

The Acting Director General of the General Directorate of Road Maintenance and Transportation of South Khorasan Province announced that 684,031 tonnes of transit goods were moved through the Mahiroud border during the first five months of the current Iranian year, marking a 90 percent increase compared with the same period last year.
Javad Zaker noted that this volume of transit cargo was transported in 26,888 freight vehicle trips, adding that the Mahiroud border, as one of the key commercial gateways in eastern Iran, plays an effective role in expanding economic ties with neighboring countries and strengthening South Khorasan’s position in the international transport network.
He added that 372,530 tonnes of goods were exported through the terminal during the period under review, representing a 44 percent rise compared with the corresponding period of the previous year.
