CONSTRUCTION WORKS UNDERWAY AT THE ASTARA BORDER BRIDGE, SET FOR COMPLETION
According to the Director General of Road Maintenance and Transportation of Guilan Province, finalizing the ongoing projects at the Astara border crossing is a priority, aimed at resolving existing challenges and facilitating smoother movement for truck drivers.
Fariborz Moradi described Astara as one of the nation’s key gateways for transit and export operations, noting that a six hectare land plot has already been acquired for the establishment of a new terminal, with contractors actively progressing on the project.
He added that once inaugurated, the new terminal will significantly increase the capacity for inbound and outbound freight traffic and will serve as a dedicated commercial and cargo border hub.
The Director General further highlighted that construction of a grade separated overpass across the railway line is also in progress. He stressed that upon completion of these initiatives, both improved public satisfaction and enhanced regional development are expected.
