Visit of the Members of the Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee to Parvizkhan Border in Kermanshah Province
The Chair and members of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Iranian Parliament visit to the Parvizkhan Border in Qasr-e Shirin, Kermanshah Province. During the visit, they stressed the urgent need to construct a new bridge over the border river and highlighted the importance of bolstering trade and economic cooperation with the Republic of Iraq.
The Governor of Kermanshah, noting the significant potential of the Parvizkhan border crossing in advancing exports, stated that by addressing infrastructure challenges and improving administrative processes, this border could play a more substantial role in driving regional economic growth, reducing unemployment, and strengthening cultural and commercial ties with Iraq.
It was agreed that required measures will be pursued to secure funding for widening access routes. Furthermore, in collaboration with the National Cartographic Center and other relevant institutions—and in view of the river’s course change caused by flooding—a new border alignment will be determined. These efforts seek to remove current obstacles and further promote trade and economic activity at the Parvizkhan Border.
The delegation also reviewed the latest status of commercial, transit, and passenger operations at the Parvizkhan crossing, as well as progress in the Qasr-e Shirin Free Zone.
The visit was attended by the Governor of Kermanshah, parliamentary representatives from Harsin, Sahneh, Kangavar, Qasr-e Shirin, Sarpol-e Zahab, and Gilan-e Gharb, along with the Director General of Roads and Road Transport of the province, commanders from the Western Army Headquarters and the IRGC, provincial border officials, the Governor of Qasr-e Shirin, and a number of senior provincial directors.
