Alstom, together with SNCF Voyageurs, has sent the TGV-M for official approval to the European Railways Agency. This marks the project’s transition into the final phase of regulatory approval.
The TGV-M, a next-generation high-speed train, is scheduled for entry into service on 1 July 2026. Alstom has confirmed that its teams remain fully engaged in preparing the first trainsets for delivery in the coming months.
The submission represents a key procedural step, allowing the new trainsets to progress toward operational readiness.
However, the TGV-M programme has experienced delays relative to its initial schedule. Alstom and SNCF Voyageurs have maintained that addressing technical and operational requirements remains the current priority to ensure a reliable introduction of the trains into commercial service.
The TGV-M project is part of broader efforts in France to modernise high-speed rail services, with updated trainsets expected to support network capacity, efficiency, and passenger experience once operational.
