TSA opens new PreCheck application centres at two airports in Texas, US

TIN news: The US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has opened two new PreCheck application centres at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) and William P. Hobby Airport (HOU) in Houston, Texas.
TSA IAH federal security director Gerry Phelan said: “With the opening of permanent application centres at both Bush and Hobby airports, many more Houston-area travellers will be able to enroll in TSA PreCheck.”
In addition to the two new permanent centres, a temporary application centre will also be open from 23 to 27 August this year at the Houston Airport Marriott at Bush Intercontinental.
Passengers enrolled in the TSA PreCheck programme are allowed to keep their shoes, belts and light jacket, as well as retain their laptops and 3-1-1 baggie of liquids and gels in their carry-on baggage while passing through a security checkpoint at more than 180 airports participating in the programme.

Members of the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) ‘trusted traveller’ programmes, which include Global Entry, SENTRI or NEXUS, automatically benefit from the TSA PreCheck facility.
Applicants for TSA PreCheck can either walk-in or pre-apply online, when they can make an appointment to complete the rest of the process at a TSA PreCheck application centre.
After applying, the approved customers will receive a Known Traveller Number (KTN), which needs to be entered in the KTN field while booking an airline reservation.
The KTN can also be entered in participating airline frequent flyer profiles, where the number will be stored for reservations in the future.
