TSA Pre - Check application centre opens at San Diego international Airport

TIN news: The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) in the US has implemented a new application site for the TSA Pre-Check application programme at San Diego International Airport (SAN) in California, the US.
The application centre, located in the east of terminal two at the international airport, enables US citizens to apply for TSA Pre-Check directly.
TSA Pre-Check screening programme accelerates the screening process, permitting the travellers to leave their belongings such as laptops, light outerwear and belt, shoes, and their 3-1-1 compliant liquids/ gels bag in their hand baggage in select screening lanes.
Passengers commuting to and from the San Diego International Airport will have to go through a pre-application process at the official website of the government agency.

"This new application centre increases the availability of TSA Pre-Check benefits to a broader population of travellers."

The passengers are required to make an appointment and complete their application at the application site.
The customers who have applied for TSA Pre-Check need to visit an application centre in-person to provide documents for verification of their identity as well as their citizenship and immigration status.
These pre-applicants also need to provide their fingerprints and background details.
TSA SAN federal security director Kathleen Connon said: "This new application centre increases the availability of TSA Pre-Check benefits to a broader population of travellers.
"TSA Pre-Check is enabling us to move away from a one-size-fits-all approach to transportation security, as we look for more opportunities to provide the most effective security in the most efficient way."
The TSA Pre-Check application programme charges an application fee of $85 for a membership period of five years.
After the application is approved, the passengers will receive a Known Traveller Number (KTN) and can use the TSA Pre-Check lanes at over 150 airports as well as 13 major US airlines.
The 13 airlines include United Airlines, Allegiant, Southwest Airlines, OneJet, Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Air Canada, Delta Air Lines, JetBlue Airways, Sun Country Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, Virgin America and WestJet.
In November, the TSA opened an application site for the TSA Pre application programme in the Inter Island Terminal at Honolulu International Airport (HNL).
