Etihad Rail plans to build four stations in Dubai
TIN news: Etihad Rail, UAE’s national railway network, is planning to build four stations to connect to the Dubai Metro.
Etihad Rail is studying a station in Jebel Ali Port, and another one at Al Maktoum International Airport. The third station is being reviewed in Dubailand, and a fourth in Meydan.
The company is developing a new 1,200km, $11bn rail network in the UAE, which is currently being carried out in three phases.
Following completion it will be used for both freight and passenger transport.
The new freight line is under construction and will operate two trains to transport 22,000 metric tonnes of granulated sulphur daily. It could open for service by the end of the year.
The 628km second stage of the project will connect Mussafah Port to Khalifa Port and Jebel Ali Port, and is expected to be completed by January 2017.
