DriveNow introduces car - sharing services at London City Airport
TIN news: Car sharing firm DriveNow is partnering with the London City airport to offer its services to air travellers in the UK.
London City is the first airport in the UK to offer an instant booking, 'free-floating' electric car-sharing service.
DriveNow, the joint venture of the BMW Group and car rental company Sixt SE, will operate a fleet of the BMW 1 series, Mini Countryman and 50 BMW i3s within the catchment area North and East London.
New DriveNow customers need to download the app or register on the website to avail this service at 39p p/m, inclusive of fuel charges, parking, insurance and car tax.

The service offers zero base fare and unlimited mileage facilities with an additional City Airport service fee of £2.50.
The partnership facilitates the passengers to pick up or drop off a car at the terminal of the airport.
The cars can be used by travellers for both business and recreational purposes to commute to their desired locations within a defined business area.

Travellers can drive to the London City Airport, board their flight, and then again take another DriveNow car at the airport that provides the service to reach their destination.
This service is available in nine other airports across Europe - Stockholm, Copenhagen, Vienna, Dusseldorf, Cologne, Hamburg, Munich and Berlin.
London City Airport commercial manager Tom Murphy said: "We pride ourselves on offering the best possible experience for customers. This new partnership with DriveNow offers more choice for passengers to make their journey as convenient as possible."
The DriveNow service was launched in 2011 in Germany and has more than 450,000 customers in eight cities across the world.In May 2015, it introduced its BMW i3s to serve the residents across North and East London.
Last week it introduced the service at Berlin Schönefeld Airport in Germany. It already has its service in Berlin's Tegel Airport.
