TIN news:  The Government of Victoria in Australia has unveiled the new design of Frankston train station
The station upgrade was designed by Genton Architecture, which was selected following a public design competition that received nearly 40 entries.
Construction of the new user-friendly station is set to start later this year, with work to improve Young Street already underway.
As part of the work, a new bus interchange, wider footpaths, fresh landscaping, and road improvements will be delivered to reduce congestion.
Rebuilding Frankston station is part of the government’s A$63m ($48m) investment in redevelopment of the Frankston station precinct, which includes improvements to Young Street between Wells and Beach streets.
Victoria Public Transport Minister Jacinta Allan said: “It will be a true gateway to the Peninsula, and a place the community can be proud of.

“It’s part of our investment in a better Frankston, and our record investment in better public transport for Victoria.”
The implementation of the redevelopment will be managed by the Frankston revitalisation board, chaired by Frankston MP Paul Edbrooke and comprising senior local leaders from key partners.
The development will include rebuilding Frankston station, consolidating the buses on Young Street and upgrading the subway, improving Young Street by creating a pedestrian streetscape and new public plazas.
Works on Young Street are being carried out by infrastructure, engineering and construction company Seymour Whyte.
