Iranian foreign minister stressed that Tehran needs to have smart attitude in response to the irresponsible actions of the United States on breaking its commitments.

During his interview with the ISNA news agency, the Iranian foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif insisted that the protection of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and the management of its implementation within and across the country are part of the most important measures of the ministry.

Referring to the recent visit of US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley to the Vienna and the announced purposes of the visit, Zarif stressed, “the purposes and the results which announced over the visit are contrary to various articles of the JCPOA and UNSC Resolution 2231 on the role of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the need to protect its independence and sensitive information related to the nuclear accord”.

“The agency should not allow its independence and its position on the JCPOA in the international arena to be questioned,” the Iranian minister added.

“If we want to keep the JCPOA, we should strengthen the economic relations between Iran and the other countries because this process will make people to ensure that they would be the beneficiary of the nuclear accord,” Zarif said.
