LAS VEGAS—Gulfstream has opened a new repair and overhaul center in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, part of what the manufacturer says is the most important investment in customer support in its history.
The 100,000-ft.² facility represents a $21 million investment and houses $5 million in dedicated spare parts and inventory for repair and overhaul on wheels, brakes, batteries, and hydraulics along with structural and composite repairs, Gulfstream said Oct. 13. Plans call for an expansion to support avionics.
The Texas Repair and Overhaul Center complements other Gulfstream facilities in the Southwest region, including its Fort Worth Alliance Service Center and completions operations at Dallas Love Field. Gulfstream’s California Repair and Overhaul Center in Lincoln, California, specializes in avionics and electronics repairs.
Gulfstream earlier this year opened a 225,000-ft.² MRO facility at Mesa Gateway Airport in Arizona, where it has been servicing aircraft since 2022, said Lor Izzard, senior vice president of customer support. In August, the manufacturer opened a new Technical Training Center (TTC) in Mesa, adding to the TTC it opened in 2015 at its headquarters in Savannah, Georgia.
During a briefing at NBAA-BACE here, Izzard said Gulfstream has grown its network of Field and Airborne Support Teams (FAST) to 24 bases, including 11 international bases. It has 12 centers where it forward deploys spares.
In the decade, Gulfstream has invested $600 million on customer support—“the single most important investment in customer support in the history of the company,” Izzard said. Of 21,000 total Gulfstream employees, 5,500 are engaged in customer support, he said.
“By expanding our in-house repair and overhaul capabilities, we’re expediting turnaround times and increasing parts availability to best support our customers’ needs while maximizing safety, quality and efficiency,” Gulfstream President Mark Burns said. “We will continue to invest in component repair, maintenance support and spare parts to enhance overall service for our customers, particularly as our fleet continues to grow.”
