Aircraft propeller MRO provider APS has received certification from the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) for its Asia-Pacific facility in Shah Alam, Malaysia, allowing operations in Selangor state to begin this year.
The Malaysia facility previously received certification from the U.S. FAA in April 2025.
The 30,000-ft.2 building will initially have the capability to service the Collins Aerospace 568F blades used on ATR 42 and ATR 72 turboprops. Over this year it will induct more capabilities for six other propeller components.
APS says 37% of the world's ATR 72 turboprops are based in the Asia-Pacific region. The Aviation Week Network Fleet Discovery database shows there are 272 ATR 42/72 aircraft in service in the broader region. In Southeast Asia Indonesia has 33 aircraft, the Philippines has 21 and Malaysia has 15.
“Securing CAAM certification is a major step forward for APS in Asia Pacific,” APS CEO Daniel Colbert says. “It allows us to bring our maintenance capabilities closer to customers in Southeast Asia and build long-term support capacity in the region.”
