2025 ATW Value Airline Of The Year: Scoot

It is unprecedented for an airline to win the same ATW Award two years consecutively, so there must be something special about the airline that first accomplishes this achievement. That airline is Scoot, the Singapore-based LCC that was also named the 2024 Value Airline of the Year, and which has continued to innovate, grow, adapt and set itself apart in a highly competitive region for LCCs.

“At Scoot, we believe in connecting people not only to places, but also to other people and diverse cultures and experiences,” Scoot CEO Leslie Thng said.

Scoot, though still young, operates to over 70 destinations across Asia, Australia, Europe and the Middle East. Since 2024, the airline has introduced 10 new destinations to its network, with new long-haul service to Vienna, Austria, scheduled to launch on June 3.

Since May 2024, the airline, a subsidiary of the Singapore Airlines Group, has added five new Embraer E190-E2s to its fleet, with four more deliveries anticipated by the end of this year. These have given the airline flexibility and allowed it to add destinations like Iloilo City in the Philippines; Kertajati and Padang in Indonesia; Koh Samui and Phu Quoc in Thailand; and Malacca and Sibu in Malaysia.

Leveraging technology is central to how Scoot operates and engages with the customer. The airline has further grown its customization features and introduced online services that allow passengers to easily change or cancel flights via its Manage My Booking website feature. Cutting-edge generative AI has been integrated into Scoot’s MARVIE virtual chatbot, providing the ability to respond to a wider range of complex queries about check-in times, bags and other aspects of the journey. “AI-enabled translation is enabling our English-speaking live chat agents to support other languages, starting with Mandarin Chinese and with plans to add other languages such as Korean and Japanese,” Thng said.

The Scoot Agency Hub Booking Portal was also launched to simplify reservation-making for travel agents.

Scoot leverages synergies within the SIA Group to realize cost efficiencies through economies of scale in areas like aircraft purchases, fleet technical support, joint contracting or other shared services, such as fuel procurement and IT services. The airline also collaborates with its airport partners to lower handling costs through automation and digitalization projects.

And Scoot strives to make every journey unique and memorable through offerings such as the Pokémon flight experience, and in-flight “Scootitude” activities that engage passengers.

At all times, Scoot prioritizes clear communications and maintains dedicated customer service teams for when people prefer human assistance. Not surprisingly, customer satisfaction metrics have improved, and overall revenue has risen.

The 2025 ATW Value Airline of the Year is Scoot.
