The fate of Aigle Azur, the second largest carrier in France, is decided. After a French commercial court came to the conclusion that any of the rescue offers were suitable to recover Aigle Azur, the airline was put into liquidation.

The airline was placed in receivership in the beginning of September following the growing financial problems and a dispute with one of shareholders who attempted to establish himself as the airline’s leader.

On 7 September all the flights were cancelled in a wait for offers from potential purchasers. However, the grounded airline has lost the opportunity to ever take off again.

“Following the final decision of the Evry commercial court, the secretary of state regrets that no financed offer could result in the takeover of the airline”, said French secretary of state for transport Jean-Baptiste Djebbari in a statement.

The special support for affected employees to be provided by the French government. According to Reuters, the French government is about to ask for help of Air France to “take into account” over 1,000 employees of the bankrupt airline.
