UNWTO head says bright future awaits Iran’s tourism industry

The Secretary-General of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Zurab Pololikashvili said that he sees a bright future for Iran’s tourism industry in the world.

He made the remarks on Monday in the inauguration ceremony of the 40th UNWTO Affiliate Members Plenary Session, held in Hamedan, Iran.

Appreciating the efforts of Iranian officials in hosting the event, Pololikashvili maintained that this international meeting is an ample opportunity which should be properly seized.

Officials of 27 countries are participating in the event, he noted, hoping for fruitful and effective sessions for tourism.

He went on to say that Hamedan is among the best tourism destinations of Iran and that it has the potential to become one of the prominent tourist attractions in the world.

Titled as ‘International Seminar on Harnessing Cultural Tourism through Innovation and Technology’, 40th UNWTO Affiliate Members Plenary Session is a three-day event which kicked off today.

According to UNWTO official website, the main aim of the international seminar is to address the role of innovation and technology in the development of cultural tourism and in enhancing destinations’ competitiveness and attractiveness.
