The Director General for Roads Maintenance and Transportation of Sistan and Baluchestan Province announced a significant 57% increase in exports through the Milak Border during the first six months of the year. A total of 138,666 tons of goods were exported via 5,444 trucks, showcasing a remarkable surge compared to the same period last year.

Ayoub Kurd, the official, highlighted cement, petroleum products and agricultural goods as the primary exported items, stateing that the daily movement of over 200 trucks through this border underscores its strategic importance in facilitating trade with neighboring countries, particularly Afghanistan.

Mr. Kurd further stressed that the Milak BCP, as the only active land border between Iran and Afghanistan in Sistan and Baluchestan, plays a pivotal role in promoting foreign trade, especially exports to East Asian markets. Its proximity to target markets, reduced transport costs and improved accessibility have made this border one of the most critical economic corridors in eastern Iran.
