The Project on Civil Defense Road from Barakat Terminal to Shahid Soleimani Border Nears Completion
The critical project to improve and construct the civil defense road connecting Barakat Terminal to the Shahid Soleimani Border Terminal is nearing completion, with 80% physical progress achieved, according to the Director General of Road Maintenance and Transportation of Ilam Province.

Sayyed Zahedin Cheshmehkhavar stressed that the primary goal of this project is to streamline the movement of relief and operational units and officials, ensuring swift access to the border. Additionally, the project aims to provide essential services to pilgrims and facilitate effective traffic management during the Arbaeen pilgrimage season.
Highlighting the technical achievements of the project, Cheshmehkhavar stated that 14 bridges have been constructed along the 7.5-kilometer route. The project also includes extensive operational work, such as 20,000 cubic meters of earthworks, 11,000 cubic meters of sand pouring and compaction, 30,000 cubic meters of base construction, and 12,000 tons of asphalt paving.
This ambitious project, which commenced in 2024, is set to be completed and operational before this year’s Arbaeen pilgrimage. Cheshmehkhavar also concluded by reaffirming the commitment of Ilam Provincial RMTO ensuring the timely delivery of this vital infrastructure project.
