The Arbaeen Borders Poised to Record Movement of Four Million Pilgrims

Iran Arba'een borders are nearing a historic milestone, with the traffic of four million pilgrims expected to be recorded during the current year’s sacred observance. Over the past 15 days, since the initiation of the Arba'een relocation plan 2025 (July 24th to August 9th), a total of 3,947,751 pilgrims have passed through Iran borders.

According to Iran Roads Management Center, 2,863,869 Iranian and overseas pilgrims departed through the borders of Mehran, Shalamcheh, Chazzabeh, Khosravi, Bashmagh and Tamarchin, embarking on their spiritual journey to the holy shrines. Additionally, 1,083,882 pilgrims returned through these borders, completing their pilgrimage and returning to their points of origin.

Key Border Crossings Highlight Pilgrims’ Movements

Among the busiest crossings, the Mehran, Shalamcheh and Khosravi borders remain pivotal for both outbound and inbound travel. The report further indicates that during the first 15 days of the Arba'een Hussaini plan, 560,791 pilgrims utilized the public road transport fleet, which carried out 24,624 trips to facilitate their access to the borders.

On the outbound routes, 62% of public transport travelers crossed through Mehran border, 24% through Shalamcheh and 7% through Khosravi. In respect, on the return routes, 167,457 pilgrims were transported to their original destinations via 11,636 public transport trips, with Mehran border accounting for 61%, followed by Shalamcheh at 21% and Bashmaq at 8%.

The National Roads Management Center continues to ensure the efficient organization of transport and border activities, facilitating a smooth and spiritually significant journey for all pilgrims.
