Speaking through an issued statement, Mehrdad Hamdollahi highlighted the extensive collaboration between the public and private sectors in ensuring the success of this year’s Arbaeen pilgrimage logistics. The largest contributions to the truck fleet came from eight provinces, including Khorasan Razavi, Fars, Yazd, Tehran, Khuzestan, Mazandaran, East Azerbaijan and Isfahan.

Breaking down the logistics, Hamdollahi noted that 2,400 trucks operated from the Mehran border, 2,260 from the Shalamcheh border and approximately 1,100 from the Khosravi border. These fleets played a crucial role in transporting convoys and providing essential services to pilgrims traveling to Iraq for the spiritual journey to the holy shrines.

Further stressing the spirit of solidarity, Mr. Hamdollahi commended the trade associations and drivers who hosted the pilgrims by organizing convoys at the borders and along traffic routes in Iraq. He expressed gratitude for the spontaneous and sincere cooperation extended by domestic and international transport companies, which ensured the seamless transport of goods and services.

Currently, Iran boasts a robust network of 570,000 drivers, 467,000 fleet vehicles and nearly 5,700 transport companies operating within the goods transport sector. This extensive infrastructure, Mr. Hamdollahi noted, has been instrumental in supporting large-scale events such as the Arbaeen pilgrimage.

The Arbaeen pilgrimage, one of the largest religious gatherings in the world, commemorates the 40th day after the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, a revered figure in Islamic history.
