According to Mohammad Hajjarzadeh, Director General for the Department of Economic Affairs, Investment and Financing, the meeting followed the introduction of the Chinese investor group to the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development during a session at the Presidential Institution.

Hajjarzadeh highlighted that the discussions revolved around four strategic areas of investment: border crossings, logistics centers, service areas and parking lots alongside corridors, including the International East-West (Silk Road) and the North-South commercial routes. Additionally, potential investment in the development of smart roads was presented to the delegation.

Dr. Hajjarzadeh further explained that Iran offers robust investment platforms in smart road projects, as well as in the construction of service areas and parking lots. These projects aim to enhance infrastructure quality and operational efficiency along Iran’s key transportation routes.
The Director General further stressed the significant potential for investment in the construction and development of border crossings, which play a critical role in facilitating passenger and goods transit with neighboring countries. He noted that these borders provide a strong foundation for mutually beneficial partnerships.

Dr. Hajjarzadeh also underscored opportunities in the logistics sector, particularly the construction and operation of logistics centers. These facilities are designed to support a wide range of value-added services, including cargo consolidation, quality control, packaging, insurance and customs clearance, which seem vital for boosting Iran’s role as a regional logistics hub.

He added, "The implementation of smart road projects represents another area with immense potential for investor activity. Discussions with the Chinese delegation included an exchange of views on integrating advanced technologies to improve the safety, efficiency and sustainability of Iran's road network."

This engagement reflects Iran’s commitment to fostering international partnerships and attracting foreign investment to advance its strategic infrastructure goals. The meeting also underscores the national emphasis on leveraging collaboration to enhance connectivity along critical trade corridors, aligning with global trade and logistics trends.
